Directions Sort and wash beans. Empty contents of seasoning pouch and cleaned beans into large pot with 9 cups of water. Bring to boil on high heat. Remove from heat and let soak about 30 minutes. Brown 1 lb cubed smoked sausage or ham and add to beans with 1 bayou magic bay leaf. Bring to boil on high heat then lower to medium heat and cook covered until beans are tender (about 1-1/2 to 2 hours). For a different flavor, substitute 1 lb browned loan ground meat instead of sausage or ham. Remove bay leaves. Serve over steamed rice or noodles. Great News: For 1/2 recipe adjust 1/2 of all ingredients in above directions. For those who like a milder dish, adjust seasoning to taste.
