Directions Stove Top: 1. Bring 3-1/2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of oil or butter (optional) to a boil in a medium sauce pan. 2. Stir in contents of package. Continue boiling over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes. 3. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for an additional 15 minutes. Stir well and let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Microwave: 1. In a one quart microwave-safe dish combine 3-1/2 cups of water 1 tablespoon of oil or butter (optional), and contents of package. 2. Cover and microwave on high for 15 minutes. 3. Stir, cover, and microwave on high an additional 15 minutes. Stir well and let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serving Tips: For a softer bean, cook longer and add more water until desired texture is reached. Brown ground beef, bacon, or sliced sausage. Drain fat, add meat and follow any of the above preferred cooking directions.
