Great food isn't possible without a healthy planet. We're committed to reducing our carbon footprint and nurturing the environment. We aim to reduce carbon emissions from our own operations and have already achieved a 21% reduction since 2019 through completing energy efficiency projects, projects to transition stores to lower global warming potential refrigerants, and more.

Community

We're committed to fighting food insecurity at a local level so all our neighbors thrive. Thanks to our customers' generosity and our associates' dedication, we enable hundreds of millions of meals each year through our Foundation and store donation programs. Through these programs, we've helped provide more than 950 million meals in our communities since 2019.

Product

We're committed to reducing unnecessary packaging and food waste. We've added standardized recycling instructions on over 7,000 Own Brands products and 40,000 store-made items. In 2022, we reduced food waste by improving our ordering, donating 80 million pounds of unsold food, and diverting more than 321 million pounds of food and trimmings from landfills.

Because while many candy and food items currently come in multi-material packaging made of various layers of plastic, DOVE^® Chocolate has started using mono-material packaging made of a single type of plastic that’s easier to recycle at participating Albertsons Companies stores.

Over the next few years, recycling programs will continue to evolve and may eventually include this type of packaging. But we’re ready now – with the chocolate you love in packaging you can feel good about today.
